Central City, KY – On July 25, 2015, First National Bank will become First Southern National Bank. First Southern National Bank is a subsidiary of First Southern Bancorp, Inc., headquartered in Stanford, Kentucky. First Southern Bancorp has been the parent company of First National Bank since February.
“First Southern is an outstanding organization – we could not have found a better fit for our customers, our community and our team than we have found in First Southern,” said Lanie Gardner, Community President for First National Bank.
In February of 2015, First Southern Bancorp, Inc. acquired First United, Inc. and its wholly-owned subsidiary, First National Bank of Muhlenberg County, which has offices in Central City, Greenville, and Bremen, Kentucky. With the addition of the three locations in Muhlenberg County, First Southern National Bank grows to 18 locations in 11 Kentucky counties throughout Central and Western Kentucky with over $850 million in assets.
“First National is a strong, community bank and we’re dedicated to building on that history of providing exceptional customer service,” said Tommy Roberts, Chief Executive Officer for First Southern National Bank. “We’re also very interested in maintaining an active role in the communities we serve here.”
The merger will take place the weekend of July 25, 2015, which is when First National branches will become First Southern branches and customer accounts will become First Southern National Bank accounts. First National Bank branches will close at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 24 to begin the transition. As a result of the merger, customers will gain access to First Southern’s Online and Mobile Banking systems on Monday, July 27 and local branches will open at the regularly posted time of 8:30 a.m.
“With the exception of our new name, some additional products, and some new locations, most everything else will remain the same. Yes, we will have a little different look on the outside but on the inside we will have the same account numbers, same hours, and the same friendly faces you know and trust,” said Lanie Gardner.
“We’re still the same people, from the same hometown, loving and serving our families and our communities, and serving the people and businesses of Muhlenberg County like we have for years. When we open our doors on Monday, July 27, we will open them with endless opportunities for our customers and our community” added Gardner.
Gardner is a 15-year veteran of the bank, most recently serving as interim President for First National. She will remain at the helm and serves as Community President for First Southern in Muhlenberg County.
