Relationships are a core value at First Southern National Bank. They matter a lot – in our faith, our families, our friendships and our work. That’s why we want to introduce our team to you! Meet Keisha Brigance, a loan officer at the Greenville branch.

What was the first thing you bought with your own money?

My first big purchase was a new car at 18 years old. My dad co-signed for me. It was not a fancy car, but I was working and going to college at the time, so I needed a dependable vehicle. It was my responsibly to pay the insurance and the monthly loan payment and I remember knowing that I had to fulfill those priorities before spending money on anything else.

How long have you worked at First Southern?

I’ve worked for the bank since 2007, so my 14-year anniversary is coming up in November.

Have you held any other roles here?

I’ve worked as a teller, loan clerk, collections officer and now my current role as lender.

What does it mean to believe in our customers?

I believe that customers are looking for a relationship with someone who will give honest feedback and truly help them.

What is your favorite thing about working at First Southern?

One of my favorite things about working here is the relationships with my peers. My coworkers are not just friends – they’re family. We’re here for each other in the highs and lows of life, while providing loving support and usually laughter along the way.

What is your favorite memory from First Southern?

My favorite memory is from a home loan customer that simply said, “thank you.” He and his wife were just getting started together in married life and wanted to buy a home. They didn’t have a lot of money and their credit was limited because of their age, but they were both hard workers. Later, I got a call from the customer when he paid off the loan. He just called to say thanks for helping them and giving them a chance, and that he greatly appreciated me and the bank.

I cannot tell you how nice that was to hear. It was also wonderful to hear from the couple a few years later, when they were considering another large purchase. Because of our relationship, they only wanted to talk to me and were not considering other banks or institutions.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love being a baseball mom and spending time with family and friends. No matter what we’re doing, as long as we’re together, a good time will be had.

Do you have a favorite verse or quote?

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” -Reinhold Niebuhr
