After 48-years of service, Betty Mitchell will be retiring at the end of August from our Princeton Main Branch as Branch Operations Manager.
When did you start your career at FSNB?
I started in October 1972.
What makes First Southern Special to you?
The wonderful customers that I have met throughout the years and my great coworkers that I sometimes spend more time with than family members.
What are some of the most significant changes you’ve seen in the banking industry during your tenure?
The changes that have happened with Online Banking are too many even to name. It’s amazing the accessibility that Mobile and Online Banking provides. If you aren’t utilizing, it allows you the freedom to manage your finances at any time.
What advice would you tell your 20-something-year-old self as you were entering your career at FSNB?
Always be the employee who shows initiative to learn and make learning new things a must. Take on extra duties with a smile. Always be adaptable to changes.
How are you different because you’ve worked at First Southern National Bank?
I would say I’ve become more caring since working at First Southern National Bank. Working with the public you become aware of needs and it was wonderful to be able to help people and not only be there for customers personally but through First Southern and their generosity.
How important is building relationships in banking and in life?
Relationships matter and are a must in life. Building relationships centered around family, friends, and faith are what is important to me.
What does it mean to “be there” for customers?
I want to “be there” for my customers so that they always feel like they are wanted, welcome and important when they enter or call the branch.
What would you tell someone who is thinking about a career at First Southern National Bank?
This is a fantastic company with great coworkers, and you will enjoy the family atmosphere.
