It has come to our attention that fraudsters are impersonating First Southern National Bank by phone, stating the customer needs to take action to prevent account lockout.
The fraudsters are using a form of Caller ID spoofing to mask their true telephone number. Many of the calls attempting to defraud our customers show a local First Southern branch on the Caller ID.
As a reminder, First Southern will never call or email you to ask for confidential information such as your digital banking login, account number, SSN, name, address, password, etc.
Under the guise of a First Southern team member, the fraudster talks the customer into revealing their digital banking login credentials and then subsequently attempts to transfer money via our person-to-person (P2P) system and bill pay.
Enabling multi-factor authentication (MFA) provides an extra level of authentication that helps protect you from a fraudster trying to access your information and money. You can request multi-factor authentication here. If you are utilizing this two-step process to access your account, you are already protected.
Whether you bank online, in person, or over the phone, we’re constantly working to protect you from criminal activity. You can read more about privacy and security at https://fsnb.net/privacy-security/
