Relationships are a core value at First Southern National Bank. They matter a lot – in our faith, our families, our friendships and our work. That’s why we want to introduce our team to you by featuring our team members! Learn more about Tim Hopper, the Community President at the Monticello branch.

What is your first memory of money as a child?

As a kid, I had a small lawn mowing business.  It was cool to realize that work equaled money from such a young age. The harder you worked, the more money you would have. That is a pretty basic lesson that unfortunately seems to be missing from society today.

How long have you worked at First Southern?

I will have been here 18 years in October.

Have you held any other roles here?

I started as a lender and moved to Community President.

What does it mean to believe in our customers?

I think it means to believe in their goals, desires and aspirations, tempered with our view as financial mentors. By hearing their dreams and providing financial counsel, we can help them make the best financial decisions for their future.

What is your favorite thing about working at First Southern?

I often hear about how unhappy people are in their jobs or with who they work for, and far too many deal with very toxic work environments.  We are blessed at First Southern to work with many team members who share the same values of faith, family and work. It can be easy to take our work environment for granted. The family feel we have here is my favorite thing about First Southern.

What is your favorite memory from First Southern?

We’ve had some enjoyable times together with Community President retreats and meetings!

What do you like to do outside of work?

Family is huge, and with three grandkids now, my wife and I are pretty busy outside of work. I attempt to play some golf, and we also enjoy Lake Cumberland and the beautiful scenery in our little corner of the world.
